2009 Communications & Outreach Division Internships

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies is an independent, not-for-profit policy research organization located in Arlington, Virginia. Established in 1994, the Potomac Institute's goal is to identify and aggressively shepherd discussions on key science and technology (S&T) issues facing our society, providing in particular, an academic forum for the study of related policy issues. From these discussions and forums, we develop meaningful science and technology policy options and ensure their implementation at the intersection of business and government.

Currently the Communications & Outreach Division is accepting applications for Interns for the January-May 2009 and June-August 2009 terms.

Interns will have the opportunity to assist the Institute's ongoing communications and outreach efforts including Web site content creation and maintenance, newsletter creation and distribution, proactive media efforts, event planning and execution, content management system assistance, copy editing and proofreading, administrative and internal communications projects as well as other communications, outreach and operation assignments.

Individuals enrolled in or having completed university studies with a background or interest in communications, public relations, marketing, science writing, or public policy are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have excellent written and oral communications skills, the ability to multi-task and complete assigned projects. A professional attitude and attire are required.

Interns are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours a week during the semester. The internships are unpaid. If you are currently enrolled in an academic program, we will assist in your effort to receive course credit. For more information, please send a letter of interest with a current copy of your resume and a writing sample to HR@potomacinstitute.org.
