Gordon Keiser - Senior Fellow At Potomac Institute

Gordon Keiser is Senior Fellow at Potomac Institute

The Potomac Institute welcomes Col Gordon Keiser, USMC (ret) as a Senior Fellow.  Prior to joining the Institute, he was at the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, Quantico, VA, and worked at the U.S. Naval Institute.

He retired from the Marine Corps as an infantry colonel in 1989.  After retirement, he worked from Jan. 2006 to Nov. 2012 as a senior engineer/analyst at the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory in Quantico, VA. From April 2000 to May 2005, he was Senior Editor, Proceedings magazine, and Deputy Seminar Manager at the U.S. Naval Institute, Annapolis, MD. From Sep. 1989 to March 2000, he was Director of Operations and Deputy Seminar Manager at the Naval Institute.

Ken Hamilton Joins Institute as Senior Fellow

Potomac Institute welcomes Ken Hamilton, Senior Fellow

CAPT Ken Hamilton, USNR (ret) has joined Potomac Institute for Policy Studies as a Senior Fellow. He has had a distinguished career both as a naval officer and as an expert in DoD acquisition management.  He is the founder and President of the KENTIA Management Group, Inc (KTMG) a private engineering management consulting firm supporting various major DoD Acquisition Programs and industry clients. 

He has served the principle strategic management advisor to ACAT I acquisition programs and served as a founding member and acquisition management subject matter expert for OSD’s Systems of Systems Center of Excellence (SOSECE), whose charter was to apply the latest tenets of systems science to the development of methodologies for streamlining the DoD acquisition process.  Mr. Hamilton is also the co-founder and President of Mission Technology Systems, LLC (MTS) which is the manufacturer of small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS).

Dr. Hank Orejuela, Ph.D., Joins the Board of Regents  

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies (www.potomacinstitute.org) is pleased to announce that Dr. Hank Orejuela has been named a Member of the Board of Regents.  Dr. Orejuela founded Applied Systems Analytics LLC in 2011.

Institute Chairman and CEO Michael Swetnam hailed Orejuela's achievements, welcoming him to the Institute:  "Dr. Orejuela is an extremely accomplished engineer, developer, leader, and innovator.  Every effort he has been involved in for the past forty years has seen unparalleled success due to his participation.  I know that his involvement with the Institute will similarly lead us to great impacts."

Dr. Hank Orejuela’s experience and professional accomplishments span both government and private industry, and he has been a leader in the Defense Industry.  Dr. Orejuela founded Applied Systems Analytics LLC in 2011 providing Intelligence, IT and Advanced Technology consulting for DoD and other departments of the U.S. government.  He supports the Rapid Reaction Technology Office within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Research and Engineering, ASD(R&E) and also recently participated in a comprehensive study for ASD(R&E), addressing the future use of Microelectronics in DoD programs and systems.

Tom O'Leary is Named to Board of Directors

Tom O'Leary is Named to the Board of Directors    

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies is pleased to announce Tom O'Leary as a new member of the Institute's Board of Directors.

Tom O'Leary is Executive Vice President of the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies and heads the Strategy, Plans and Programs section. 

 He retired from the Marine Corps in 2001.  In July of 2001, he joined the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies as a Senior Research Fellow and was subsequently detailed as an IPA from Potomac Institute to the Department of Navy.  While an IPA, he served as the first Program Manager for the Littoral Combat Future Naval Capabilities program, then as the Director, Expeditionary Warfare Operations Technology Division, Office of Naval Research, and finally as Technical Director, Marine Corps Warfighting Lab.

Mr. John C. Johnson is Named Member of the Board of Regents

Mr. John C. Johnson Is Named Member of the Board of Regents  

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies (www.potomacinstitute.org) is pleased to announce that Mr. John C. Johnson has been named a Member of the Board of Regents.  Mr. Johnson is currently Vice President, General Manager, and Deputy to the President of Electronic Systems of Northrop Grumman Corporation. 

Institute Chairman and CEO Michael Swetnam welcomed Mr. Johnson's appointment, noting, "John Johnson in an individual of accomplishment, commitment, and excellence.  He had an extremely distinguished Air Force career and followed that with success at the highest levels of leadership in industry.  His knowledge of defense systems will help the Institute better understand, support, and develop policy to further this country's security."
